Aesir

Born in 1994 in Tours, and raised in Normandy, Aesir was immersed in art in all its forms from a young age. His passion for creation quickly turned towards a particular interest in pop culture, the nuances of which he was able to capture through a unique graphic approach.

Having grown up in a world where rock music, pop culture icons and artistic figures were omnipresent, he was deeply influenced by the works and personalities of Andy Warhol, Freddie Mercury, Pink Floyd and David Bowie. These influences shaped his view of art, leading him to a resolutely contemporary artistic approach.

Aesir’s career began with two years of studying technical drawing, a choice that allowed him to acquire formal rigor in the representation of the world. He then continued his apprenticeship in Fine-Arts for three years, where he immersed himself in experimentation and visual expression.

The teaching he received gave rise to a constant search for new forms and textures, while drawing inspiration from the cultural movements that have shaped modern society. At this time, he began to develop an artistic approach where pop culture and visual art intersect and reinvent themselves.

After an enriching one-year experience as an applied art teacher, Aesir moved towards the world of tattooing, where he practiced for six years. Tattooing became an additional medium, a field of experimentation where he could mix visual culture with human skin. Still a tattoo artist today, Aesir continues to make the body a canvas for personal and emotional expression.

His artistic approach is based on highlighting emblematic figures of pop culture, personalities and artists who have marked their time. Aesir seeks to awaken their memory, to bring them back to life in the contemporary world, by highlighting them through stage performances where colors and textures play a key role. Each work, whether graphic, pictorial or tattooed, seeks to capture the dynamics and energy of these icons, while paying tribute to their indelible influence on subsequent generations.

Warhol’s influences are palpable in his use of bright colors, repetition and mass iconography, while the sound and visual dimension of Bowie or Pink Floyd’s works inspire immersive and experimental creations. The texture of the works, particularly in the pictorial work, seeks to restore the intensity and depth of these artists’ universe.

By exhibiting his work in galleries, Aesir invites the viewer to immerse himself in the history of pop culture through a contemporary artistic lens, constantly renewing codes and references while paying homage to those who have shaken up the world of art and music.

Aesir continues to explore the boundaries between genres, mixing cultural influences with an aesthetic research that reinvents popular iconography in new and dynamic forms.
