François  ROL

Blanc-2

François began photography in the 70’s with an Instamatic Kodak and his flashcubes. It is the great era of silver. Very early interested in the action photo, auto racing, motocross … he extends the experience by the black and white lab, from development of films to print in the bowls under the red light of his bathroom. Later he will buy a Cibachrome developer for his prints from slides, the beginnings of excellence in art prints. After several years with silver hardware of all brands, digital arrives and it is a real revolution.
The photo is his hobby, computer science is his profession, which will be greatly useful to him to apprehend the digital and the new techniques associated photos. From the passionate amateur to the professional he has become, remains the passion still intact of the first days.
For François, the important thing is to share and share his images, to take pleasure in realizing them and to make travel or (and) to dream those who look at them. He particularly likes the art of portraiture, reporting live or in the studio, taming the other, discovering himself, listening to him at first and then taking pictures with confidence. The beauty of the subjects is at this price.

François also loves sport events, showing movement through technique allows him to make his images alive. The sailing and its old rigging, the departure of the Route du Rhum, a perfume of adventure and travel probably, car racing and its atmosphere like the 24h du Mans, stories of machines but stories of men, all that fascinates him.
Whatever the subject, it is all about the eye, the rightness, the right moment of triggering, the lights that change, the relation to the other and nature.  This passion, François wants to share with the greatest number and make the ordinary … extraordinary.  Here are the photographers who inspired him throughout his life: Jean-Loup Sieff for his black and white fashion images, Raymond Depardon and his travels in the middle of deep France, Eliott Irwitt for his street photos, Yann Artus Bertrand and his vision of the planet, Philip Plisson and his photos of the sea, and so many others, whose images inspire him on a daily basis.

“To photograph is to put on the same line of sight the head, the eye and the heart”
Henri Cartier-Bresson

Gallery’s Eye

Anxious to keep a trace of his wonders, François photographs the landscapes and the scenes that touch him and takes care to immortalize the places as much as his own emotions. François’s love affair with photography stems from this intimate discovery of the beauty of the world and his desire for freedom.
Reports and portraits allow him to express his professionalism on a daily basis. His relational qualities and commitment to his job complement his demanding eye. He is able to distinguish himself through his quest for sincerity and his sensitivity to light as much as by listening to the other.
The desire to see the country and to discover unknown countries guides it. His attraction for adventure makes him travel and explore multiple subjects. His passion for motor racing marks the beginning of a new photographic adventure: that of mechanical sports, he led a personal project by regularly capturing the images of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
François offers a demanding look for the image and benevolent for its surroundings. Passionate since time immemorial, this indefatigable curious person shares his vision of the beautiful and wonders of our world.
