Born in Tarare in the Rhône in 1973, Eric lives in Lyon where he spent his childhood and adolescence. After studying oenology and viticulture, he worked in large wine-growing regions (Beaujolais, Burgundy, Côtes du Rhône, Bordeaux).
Eric writes a book in 2001 (“Tout et de Nothing”) which will be published in 2009.
He begins to paint in the early 2000s, and has since realized, a hundred paintings. He works all his paintings in acrylic paint, mixing different techniques, mainly brushes and knives.
Mainly abstract, without true definite style, but inspired by many different painters, Eric essentially paints to instinct.
“My artistic research evolves towards a marriage of forms and colors in order to obtain coherent and harmonious ensembles. “
Eric paints over layers of paint to give depth to his works. Then he uses sponges and rags to enhance the intensity of the acrylic. The use of the knife allows him to find a raw gesture, to structure the space giving more intensity and energy to the colors. He particularly appreciates the saturation of these colors and the sometimes sharp contrasts.
Eric favors the marriage of opposites (horizontal and vertical lines, warm and cold tones …). In its abstract compositions, the rigor of the geometric lines contrasts violently with the intensity of the colors. Vivid and luminous, his works shine from the inside in a perfectly controlled harmony of tones.
