Sapo

Marie, aka Sapo, is a French artist born in 1989 in Montpellier. A visual artist passionate about exploring the connections between classical art, contemporary culture, and street art, her career began with a BTS (Higher National Diploma) in Multimedia, followed by experience as a graphic designer, which allowed her to hone her technical and creative skills.
Today, Sapo devotes herself fully to her paintings and illustrations, seeking to create works that captivate and provoke thought.

Her inspirations draw both from the great classical figures of art history from antiquity to the present day and particularly from the vibrant world of pop culture, with artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Roy Lichtenstein.
This fusion of influences allows Sapo to integrate different painting techniques and give a contemporary take on past artistic traditions.

Furthermore, street art plays an essential role in her practice. Artists like Banksy have profoundly influenced Sapo’s approach, inspiring her to push the boundaries between traditional art and art accessible to all.
The subversive, engaged, and playful spirit of urban art informs the artist’s work, bringing a social dimension and a direct dialogue with the viewer.

Her approach is a constant quest for strong emotions and unique aesthetics, with the ambition of creating works that resonate, challenge conventions, and echo contemporary concerns.
