Marc Laisne’s artistic investment is part of a double approach of professional achievement and personal fulfillment. Born in the south of France in the early 90s, he expressed an appetite for artistic subjects from a very young age. Lulled by the richness of the graphic palette of his close environment, he develops a fascination for the observation and the representation of nature. Meetings, exchanges fueled the mastery of his art and his line.
To understand what is different, for a decade, he was able to refine and nourish his inspiration through trips to the five continents. From Australia to Ethiopia, from Cambodia to Canada. Forcing the artist to leave appears to be the necessary condition for discovering what is external to oneself.
In 2013, the discovery of the great Flemish painters was a revelation for Marc Laisne in his determination to use oil paint.
In his philosophical approach, the artist represents nature in an epic form which amplifies the real to the marvelous. Inspired by Bruegel, Marc Laisne considers that Man must try the adventure despite the threats. The discovery of the different levels of reading in Van Eyck’s works also brings substance to his artistic projects to bring the elements represented to the astonishing and admirable. Conscientious and curious, he has since invested in understanding his reference models : the radiant light of Albert Bierstadt, the infinite and diversity of the landscapes captured by Thomas Moran or even the painter of architectures Hubert Robert … Determined, Marc Laisne studies drawing, perspective, architecture, old glazing techniques. He also explores the inner workings of visual communication and the harmony of colors.
If the activity of tattoo artist accompanied and nourished a dynamic of learning, it is, with his lessons, that he invests in a career as a painter and quickly knows his first achievements. Indeed, the trusted network that he has created, secures and supports this ambition : fairs, exhibitions, art lovers and collectors both in France and in Canada, where he now lives.
Marc Laisne develops and perfects his working method, between work on the motif and research in the studio. “A result in painting can be obtained in several ways, I am sensitive to a dynamic approach which articulates several techniques from several different eras and personal research.”
An artistic actor rooted in his time, Marc Laisne remains sensitive to the influences of virtuosos of modern visual communication such as the illustrators of Walt Disney (Glen Keane, Marco Gucci, Glenn Vilppu …) the artistic directors (Daniel Kearns, Roger Allers…).
